Today we started to collate our foreseen shots into a storyboard. Storyboarding is of course a crucial part of the process as it allows you to materialise what is in your head into something visual. It can prove to be important in discovering whether you have enough content also, as it is written down in synchronisation with the timings for the track. It eliminates the opportunity to leave gaps in the video, where you don't know how to fill them.
We have made our storyboards quite simplistic. These do not need to be great pieces of art work, they simply need to communicate the format and ideas of each shot. When complete, we then plan to convert what is likely to be in excess of one hundred mini-drawings into an animatic, where we can see the video played out through these images and cut to the music. It will give us an understanding of what big decisions we need to make from there. It is only an initial storyboard and may of course be subject to change. We plan to do this next week after the lengthy process of making the storyboard is complete.
